ISO New England Supports Carbon Price for New England States



Gordon van Grid operator laments lack of action on carbon pricingWelie, Chief Executive Officer of IOS-New England, says that ISO supports a carbon price for the New England region.

“Establishing a realistic price on carbon would be an elegant and simpler way to achieve clean-energy goals through the markets without distortion,” van Welie said, in a conference call with reporters, described in Commonwealth Magazine, adding that ISO-NE has told all the New England governors that it supports carbon pricing.

Van Welie says that New England is going outside the local market to purchase renewable energy, when a carbon price would allow more clean energy growth within New England.  Read his interview with Bruce Mohl of Commonwealth here.
